A complementary workflow, not a replacement claim

Fathom vs Surf Tasks: capture the meeting, then move the work.

The useful question isn’t which name wins. It’s whether your problem is capturing a conversation or finishing what the conversation created.

Choose Fathom for meeting capture

Fathom focuses on recording, transcription and meeting summaries. Its own project-management integrations can help send action items into other tools. If that already fits your team’s process, there may be no reason to add another workspace.

Choose Surf Tasks for the follow-through workspace

Surf Tasks is a task workspace for the work that follows a meeting. It brings a board, subtasks, task chat and AI-assisted drafts together, with a human approval step before completion.

  • Keep the owner and follow-up work attached to a task.
  • Change the plan through task chat as new information arrives.
  • Use your own supported AI provider key for agent work.
  • Review draft deliverables rather than treating a summary as finished work.

You can use them together

Use Fathom to capture the call and connect your own account in Surf Tasks when your API access permits it. Import the meeting, review its action items and create the follow-up tasks. You still need to confirm ownership, provide missing context and review AI output.

A Fathom connection does not mean Surf Tasks is an official Fathom partner. API availability, sharing permissions and paid-plan requirements belong to the provider.

Compare the whole cost, not just the headline

Surf Tasks access is free during the BYOK beta. Your AI provider bills usage separately, and Fathom’s current plans and access requirements apply independently. There is no paid Surf Tasks plan to subscribe to today.

Keep Fathom alone if capture and task export are enough. Try Surf Tasks alongside it when the bottleneck is preparing, reviewing and completing the actual deliverable.
